Cherry Cobbler

Ahh, yes…another cobbler.  Peach will actually be the next flavor, and my husband is super excited about it.  My parents came in town to visit, so I wanted to make this while they were here, since they love cherries.  They were my guinea pigs, and seemed pretty happy about it.

In fact, both of my parents gobbled down their little bowls of cobbler.  My mom groaned of being stuffed, while my dad wanted more.  They keep telling me that it’s good how they live several hours away from me with all of the yummy baking going on here on a regular basis.  I disagree, because they make wonderful guinea pigs with new concoctions.  Plus, I love harassing them on a regular basis.  🙂

Cherry Cobbler Recipe:

6 tbsp. butter

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 cup milk

1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Melt butter, pour into 9×13 inch baking dish.  In a medium bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and baking powder. Stir in milk.  Remove baking dish from oven as soon as butter or margarine is melted. Pour flour mixture into dish, but DO NOT STIR. Pour fruit evenly into pan, and DO NOT STIR.  Bake cobbler for 50 to 60 minutes, until golden brown.  Serve warm, topped with ice cream.
