Okay, so I’ll admit it here…I’m getting a big head start on making goodies and brainstorming different ideas for treats to make for Valentine’s Day. Such a great time of year for sweet treats!
Here are some yellow cupcakes with pink buttercream icing, topped with a red chocolate heart.
This is a 3 layer 9 inch chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing. The heart topper and hearts on the sides are all made out of chocolate. The red icing is buttercream.
One of the mini cakes…This is a 2 layer 6 inch yellow heart cake, with red buttercream icing and a pink rose also made out of buttercream.
When I saw the mold for this chocolate, I got excited. What better way to say I Love You than with a chocolate on top of a cake? I agree. It definitely took a little bit of time to make, but I loved how it turned out. This is a 2 layer 6 inch yellow cake with buttercream icing, and of course, the chocolate topper.
Yellow cupcakes with white buttercream icing, pink chocolate heart and red sprinkles
Yellow cupcakes with white buttercream icing, red chocolate rose. This was actually a lollipop mold that I used for making the roses, so I just cut a very short lollipop stick so it would stand straight up in the cupcake.
Yellow cupcakes with red buttercream icing, topped with a pink chocolate rose.
These are my favorite. Yellow cupcakes (again), with swirled pink and white buttercream icing, and little plastic toppers. Love those little bees, super cute!
Bed of Roses strawberry cake. The roses are made out of royal icing, and I mixed the standard decorator icing with 1 can of cream cheese icing to cover and decorate this strawberry cake.
Two layer 8 inch yellow cake covered in fondant, with a fondant bow on top.
Two tiered fondant cake with gumpaste roses. The bottom tier is 10 inch yellow, the top tier is 8 inch cinnamon.
Mini cake! This 6 inch cake is covered with a mixture of light pink and red fondant to give it that vibrant color. The brown fondant is chocolate. Yum.
Doll Cake! I used a doll pan for this cake, and used buttercream icing with a petal tip to give the ruffles all over. The red heart is made out of chocolate. This is the kit I use to make a doll cake: http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=supswetoo-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B0000VMHIW&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr”
Chocolate lollipops! I bought the molds for these at an arts and crafts store, melted the different colored chocolates and here they are. Pretty and ready to be eaten!
This is a 2 layer 12 inch chocolate heart cake. Chocolate icing is between the two layers, covered with cream cheese icing, then topped with fondant. All of the roses are made out of royal icing, the letters are fondant and chocolate. The white part is fondant, red part is chocolate. I used a Wilton mold set for the letters, and was very happy with how everything turned out.
And here, I’m honestly not sure which style I like better!
And…more cupcakes. These are red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing and royal icing roses.
I made this cake for my hubby for Valentine’s Day. Chocolate cake with chocolate icing, covered in chocolate fondant. Hello, chocolate!
Hey Erin!
I’m thinking that pink is very pretty but it might be a little bright iced all over a cake. Maybe a little more brown-based pink, if that makes sense! Hope I’m not being difficult!
Thanks,
Aja
Me again! I was looking online and a color I thought might would be pretty is Wilton Rose Petal Pink gel icing color. It looks like it might be a softer pink. Not lighter than your cake icing but maybe not quite as bright. It’s hard to tell on the computer though. I’ll be on the lookout for it!
Aja
The fondant cakes are gorgeous! Great job!
Thank you!
