This 2 layer 8 inch yellow cake is covered with chocolate icing and topped with blue roses. The birthday girl’s favorite color is blue, so I had to add a little blue touch.
Personally, when it comes to roses, I prefer using royal icing. These roses are made out of buttercream, and even though they taste better, my roses come out prettier with royal icing. This icing was harder to smooth, because I used the recipe that has butter in it. Although it tastes better, it’s harder to work with in the smoothing process, and there are more air bubbles. Mental note for next time, but in the meantime this tastes really good! 🙂
