I was asked to make a cute monkey birthday cake for a cute little monkey turning 1. Absolutely!
Here are the yellow cakes, cooling off and getting ready to be decorated. I used the monkey cake pan, and a 5 inch round pan for the smash cake.
Mama wanted buttercream icing for the cake, so I tinted the icing with food coloring. The lines of the monkey were harder to be seen with the star technique used all over, so I used some black icing to trace over the detailed lines, separating the arms and legs from the body.
This was my very first attempt at actually drawing a monkey. Ta da! The mixture of blue icing went in with the color scheme of the candle that was used. Cute monkey cakes for a cute little monkey!
